About Us

Wylie High School is a public high school in the city of Wylie, Texas. One of the two high schools in the Wylie Independent School District, Wylie High is classified as a 6A school.

Wylie ISD was established in 1901 by Ovid Birmingham, who then provided money to build the first Wylie High School in 1905. In 1976, Wylie High moved to a new building at Hilltop Lane, in the building which is now Burnett Junior High. While the 1976 building was able to hold up to 600 students, Wylie High outgrew the space, and the district built the current building in 1996. Several expansions have helped create space for more students, from an IMPAC building for physical education and Career and Technology classrooms, to the most recent addition, a wing of classrooms and a new gymnasium dubbed The Montgomery Center.

We are the home of That Wylie Band, Pirates, Lady Pirates, and many other award-winning student groups! Wylie High offers many, varied extracurricular activities, including chapters of national organizations like National Honor Society, Air Force Junior ROTC, SkillsUSA, DECA, and FCCLA. The school boast a wide array of athletic, music, theater, and arts organizations, as well as service and cultural organizations like Rachel's Challenge. We are also the inventors of the Legendary AHMO!
