About the Montgomery Center
Wylie ISD has honored former high school principal Virdie Montgomery by naming the multi-purpose facility at Wylie High School in his honor.
Mr. Montgomery first came to Wylie in 2006, serving as assistant principal at WHS for two years. After a brief stint in another district, he returned to WHS in 2012 where he served as principal until this year. Under his leadership, the spirit of AMHO has risen to new heights. In 2003 he was inducted into the Texas Tennis Coaches Association Hall of Fame and he currently sits on the national board of Rachel’s Challenge.
The multi-purpose facility is part of the Wylie ISD’s 2019 bond program and provides state-of-art amenities for athletic and fine arts events for students of all ages. Seating, lighting, and audio/visual components have been designed to provide the optimal experience for sporting events along with plays and concerts. The 32,000 square-foot additions will seat 2,000, depending on the event. Included in the project are additional locker rooms, storage areas, and traditional classrooms.
